Madison Area Gluten Intolerance Chapter


3/4 cup whole almonds
1 tablespoon sugar
8 pitted Medjool dates or 16 smaller dates
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup dried currants
grated zest of 1/2 orange
1 tablespoon gluten free rum*
additional sugar for coating

  1. Process almonds and sugar with the metal blade of a food processor until finely ground. Add dates, raisins, currants, orange zest and rum adding a few more drops of rum if necessary to make a stiff paste.
  2. Form into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place in paper candy cups to serve.

Yield: 2-3 dozen
*Check rum brands carefully.
