Lemon Hearts

3 cups ground hazelnuts or almonds (with skins)
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar (generous)
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon lemon extract

Grind nuts first; set aside. Cream rest of ingredients. Work nuts into dough until it won't stick. Roll out on ground nuts or powdered sugar to 1/4" thickness. Cut out with small heart shape. Bake on well-greased wax paper at 375° for about 10 minutes; should be brown on bottom.

red food coloring

For good spreading consistency, mix powdered sugar with lemon juice; color icing pink with a drop of red food coloring. Glaze cookies while hot.
